International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers

( IBDB ) Bylaws and Operating Principles

 

1.0 CLUB CREATION AND NAME

 

1.1 This riding club shall be known as the "International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers”. This may be abbreviated as "IBDB".

1.2 IBDB was founded by Brian Lalonde, Deborah Lalonde and Rick Eggett (deceased). (hereby known as International Officers)

1.3 Additional chapters will be numbered in sequence. If a chapter is closed, retired or cancelled its chapter number can be reissued to a new location.

 

2.0 PURPOSE

 

2.1 The purpose of the IBDB is to promote a safe and enjoyable environment for Deaf motorcycle enthusiasts as well as a social network for all members. The IBDB is a non-profit entity that sponsors various activities to raise funds to donate to recognized charities.

 

3.0 MEMBERSHIP

3.1 Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in motorcycling . Motorcycle ownership is helpful but not required.

3.2      Membership criteria.

3.21    Members must at all times have a valid license, insurance and maintain their motorcycle(s) in proper working order.

3.22    Agree with the club purpose and bylaws.

3.23    Be in good standing in terms of conduct.

3.24    Members agree that they are responsible for their conduct and cannot hold International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers (IBDB) responsible for any mishap, accident nor is it implied that International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers (IBDB) is open to any form of litigation.

3.25    Any member who passes away will have their membership number retired.

3.26    Members may belong to other riding clubs such as brand specific or International Riding clubs.

3.27    Members are not required to hold office and do not have voting rights. However, if a member is not active within 3 months of joining, the member will be deleted from Chapter rosters.

3.28    Members must be active in club rides and events. Annual participation in a minimum of 4 rides and/or 4 social events is required. Members are strongly encouraged to contribute to the IBDB discussion forum which is the primary means of communication within the club.

 

 

4.0 DUES

 

4. There are no Dues or membership fees to join the IBDB. All IBDB patches must be purchased through the International Office and are copyright

There will be no other yearly dues to continue your membership.

 

5.0 CLUB OFFICERS

 

5.1 No chapter may present or sponsor an event without the written approval of a International Officer. Insurance for an event must be carried by the venue or individual presenting the event. The International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers  (IBDB) will not insure any event, ride or social activity. International reserves the right to decline any membership application.

5.2 No officer may hold an executive or officer designation with any other motorcycle or riding club.

5.3 Road Captain: organizes and leads the club during a riding event.

5.4 Officers shall be eligible for reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred during the administration of club business and with prior approval by the chapter 1st Officer. Receipts must be submitted to the Financial Officer for reimbursement.

 

6.0 APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS

 

6.1 Appointments and Committees are positions in the club that are voluntary.

6.2 Each chapter will have a minimum of 3 Officers but can add more as the chapter sees fit and grows.  These positions are appointed by a International Officer or each chapter’s 1st Officer and can include, but are not limited to Road Captains, Event Coordinators, Social Convenors, etc.

6.3 The 1st Officer will appoint officers as needed for each chapter or required to fill vacancies. Only the 1st Officer or the Provincial Officer can appoint a replacement 1st Officer.  

6.4 Voting on chapter issues (at 1st Officer’s discretion)– must be an odd number of officers present, if there is an even number the 1st Officer has 2 votes.  Voting on issues must take place in person. Issues to be put to a vote include, but are not limited to, voting members out, warnings for conduct, and other major club initiatives

 

7.0 CONDUCT

 

7.1 Any member of the club may be dismissed from a club meeting, club activity or the forum as a result of inappropriate behaviour i.e.: talking negatively about another member or chapter, talking about someone’s personal business with other members or chapter. The member shall be warned concerning such inappropriate conduct by an Officer or Road Captain. The following shall be the basis for, but not limited to, inappropriate behaviour and disciplinary measures:

7.12 Consumption of alcohol or any other potentially impairing substance by a motorcycle operator prior to or during any riding event.

7.13 Obnoxious behaviour that is detrimental to the image of the club or any member or officer.

7.14 Wild, unsafe riding habits, especially any activity which jeopardizes the safety of other persons.

 

8.0 CRESTS or PATCHES

 

8.1 All logo designs are property of the International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers (IBDB)

8.2 Only an International Officer can commission the production and distribution of promotional product including, but not limited to: Crests, Clothing, Hats, Stickers, Event Banners, etc. If a member leaves the IBDB  he/she will return ALL IBDB PATCHES for a partial refund to be determined by International.

8.3 The riding crest will never be referred to as colours. It will never be worn with other motorcycle club patches.

8.4 The riding crest will never be worn with rockers, 1%, MC or colour designations.

8.5 The riding crest is used only as identification of the International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers (IBDB) and not a MC designation.


 

9.0 CHAPTERS

9.1 All chapter decisions not requiring a vote will be made by the Chapter’s 1st Officer. If the 1st Officer is not able to render decisions or commission the rules and code of conduct due to negligence or sickness, the Founder (or his appointee) will assume the responsibility for operation of that Chapter until the 1st can return to his/her capacity or a new 1st Officer is appointed.

International Brotherhood of Deaf Bikers (IBDB) chapters must adhere to these bylaws.

 

These bylaws may change and or be amended from time to time without notice.
